MRI: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Summer: As a very busy mother of two I'm not sure I have much spare time! As a family we keep very busy, always seems we are on the go but for the most part we do everything together as a family and that is my favorite way to spend my time. I like to get outdoors and ride 4 wheelers, go zip lining and I love rock climbing. I play soccer and get really excited about doing arts and crafts and I will always make time to help and be involved in my childrens' schools and charity organizations within my community.

MRI: What is your favorite hobby?
Summer: That's a four way tie between rock climbing, at home science experiments, hand making things (arts& crafts) and photography!  I take pictures of everything!  I honestly cant say that I enjoy one more than the other for any of these

MRI: What did you do to prepare for the pageant?

Summer: To prepare for Miss Royalty International I thought about my wardrobe a lot and and put together my outfits to make sure I was achieving the look I wanted. This was the furthest I had ever traveled for a pageant so far; Alaska to Wisconsin. I wanted to make sure that the pieces I chose would travel well and also make sure I had everything I might need for the unexpected. This was also the first time I would be participating in a pageant along with my daughter and her very first pageant!  I was so excited for her I wanted to make sure this was a wonderful experience for her.

MRI: What is one piece of advice you have for next years contestants?
Summer: I would tell them to be confident in yourself.  Confidence is beautiful and it shines through. Have fun!! Make new friends and allow yourself to enjoy every moment of your weekend with Miss Royalty International. It is really something amazing and you will make unforgettable memories.

MRI: What is your favorite vacation spot?
Summer: That depends. I personally love going to Hawaii and just spending the days at the beach in the sun and the sand. As a family, though, I would have to say California. We have family there and it is very nice to visit with them, with so much to do everyday.  It is an adventure!  Disney Land, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Wine Country, the Lakers... There really is something new everyday for everyone.

MRI: What is your fondest memory?
Summer: The day my daughter was born and I became a mother for the first time. I will never forget the emotions I felt and the first time I held her in my arms. My whole world had changed and it was wonderful!

MRI: What makes Miss Royalty International different from any other pageant you've been in?

Summer: Miss Royalty International is so much more than a pageant; it is a celebration! It's an experience like no other. From start to finish, Miss Royalty International is an amazing weekend you will never forget. Cheryl and Michelle go above and beyond to ensure that every contestant has an unforgettable time and feels just like a queen. From the first moment you inquire about the pageant, it is apparent how kind and caring Ms. Cheryl is and that's just the beginning. Every step of the way she is there to answer questions; cheer you on and offer support and encouragement. Cheryl and Michelle are no strangers to the pageant world and know very well what it is like to be the contestant and trust me when I say they have taken from their own memory to make Miss Royalty International the most comfortable and inviting pageant. Throwing a fun dance party after interviews to help shake off the nerves before the next days stage competition makes everyone feel so wonderful and refreshed, and all the extra awards and gifts that are provided really do ensure that win or lose you will not leave empty handed. It's the care and respect that these ladies give out that shine through in the contestants. You will meet some of the most amazing ladies from all over and make some spectacular friendships that will last long after the pageant or any reign.

Wow, such kind words from Summer.  Thank you so much for being such a wonderful representative for Miss Royalty International.  Get to know Summer more by taking a peek at the pictures of her below:

Spotlight on...KATIE MASKEY!

I am proud to introduce to you, Katie Maskey, Mrs. Royalty International.

Katie is such an inspiration for anyone young or old,  who wants to compete in a pageant, model or get fashion advice.  She owns her own coaching company called Studio K and is the kindest, most warm hearted person you'll ever meet!  Get to know more about Katie in our exclusive interview below!

MRI - What do you like to do in your spare time?
K - When I'm not out volunteering, working at my job or at my hobby-job, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband, Russ. I also love spending time with my girlfriends. I appreciate being busy but find it important to make time for the ones you love and the ones who love you! I also enjoy spending time with my three kitties, Jinx, Daphne and Eden!

Katie Maskey and her husband, Russ.

MRI - What is your favorite hobby?
K - This past summer, I turned a dream into reality and opened a model training, runway walking and pageant coaching studio, Studio K Coaching. It's what I call my "hobby-job". Helping others gain confidence, set goals and achieve them is my passion!

MRI - What did you do to prepare for the pageant?
K - By coaching others and helping them in their pageant prep, I felt like I was able to also help myself gain confidence, but one of my favorite things about pageantry is the fashion! I really put a lot of thought into my wardrobe for Mrs. Royalty International. My fashion wear was a gown that I traded a dress for. It was 5 sizes too big for me, but my seamstress and I put some thought into it, reworked it and created the fun jumpsuit that I rocked on stage! I hand stoned it, made my fascinator and blinged out my accessories. The gown I wore was from a design I had in my head that I took to a designer who was able to sketch it out and make my dream a reality! It was so fun to get creative with my wardrobe and I was able to go into the pageant very confident in everything I was wearing!

MRI - What is one peice of advice you have for next year's contestants?
K - Submit your application for your state or local title EARLY! I had my Mrs. Ohio title for a good 6 months and enjoyed my reign by scheduling appearances, volunteering and using my title for the good of others. I also felt like I worked harder to prepare for nationals once I had my state title in hand...it made it real for me and I enjoyed every minute of the journey!

Katie, MRI Mrs. Ohio, was able to make multiple appearances before the national pageant with her state title.

MRI - What is your favorite vacation spot?K - There's a little city in Northern Michigan called Lake City where my grandparents honeymooned and then started the family tradition of vacationing there for years. Beautiful beach, clean water and touristy shopping spots! When my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and then passed away a few years ago, my family stopped going, but my husband and I are making a trip back this summer to renew our vows for our 10 year wedding anniversary on the very beach where many of my childhood memories we made. I'm looking forward to creating another great memory there!

Katie and her grandmother.

MRI - What organization is your favorite to volunteer for?K - I volunteer my time with many organizations so it's hard to pick just one! Each are different and unique and have a special place in my heart. From working for stray dogs and cats with Planned Pethood to assisting cancer patients and their families through my committee work for The Victory Center to spending my time to help veterans with traumatic brain injuries and post traumatic stress with The Arms Forces, I enjoy helping the organizations within my community and getting to know the individuals that my help directly assists.

MRI - What is your fondest memory?K - My wedding day! It was a rough road getting there as I fell very sick just a couple months before and spent a month in the hospital undergoing a few emergency surgeries, but making it down that aisle was a blessing and a day I'll never ever forget! It rained in the morning, of course while I'm getting my hair done, but the second I pulled into the church, the clouds parted and the sun shined down on us the entire rest of the day!

MRI - What makes Miss Royalty International different from any other pageant system you've competed in?K - Competing for the title of Mrs. Royalty International was an amazing experience. This pageant system really treated me like royalty with an amazing dinner, fun awards night, gifts after every phase of competition and the wonderful people who worked hard to put together a great pageant. This system has set the bar high and I'm so proud to represent as Mrs. Royalty International 2014!
