Katie is such an inspiration for anyone young or old,  who wants to compete in a pageant, model or get fashion advice.  She owns her own coaching company called Studio K and is the kindest, most warm hearted person you'll ever meet!  Get to know more about Katie in our exclusive interview below!

MRI - What do you like to do in your spare time?
K - When I'm not out volunteering, working at my job or at my hobby-job, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband, Russ. I also love spending time with my girlfriends. I appreciate being busy but find it important to make time for the ones you love and the ones who love you! I also enjoy spending time with my three kitties, Jinx, Daphne and Eden!

MRI - What is your favorite hobby?
K - This past summer, I turned a dream into reality and opened a model training, runway walking and pageant coaching studio, Studio K Coaching. It's what I call my "hobby-job". Helping others gain confidence, set goals and achieve them is my passion!

MRI - What did you do to prepare for the pageant?
K - By coaching others and helping them in their pageant prep, I felt like I was able to also help myself gain confidence, but one of my favorite things about pageantry is the fashion! I really put a lot of thought into my wardrobe for Mrs. Royalty International. My fashion wear was a gown that I traded a dress for. It was 5 sizes too big for me, but my seamstress and I put some thought into it, reworked it and created the fun jumpsuit that I rocked on stage! I hand stoned it, made my fascinator and blinged out my accessories. The gown I wore was from a design I had in my head that I took to a designer who was able to sketch it out and make my dream a reality! It was so fun to get creative with my wardrobe and I was able to go into the pageant very confident in everything I was wearing!

MRI - What is one peice of advice you have for next year's contestants?
K - Submit your application for your state or local title EARLY! I had my Mrs. Ohio title for a good 6 months and enjoyed my reign by scheduling appearances, volunteering and using my title for the good of others. I also felt like I worked harder to prepare for nationals once I had my state title in hand...it made it real for me and I enjoyed every minute of the journey!

Katie, MRI Mrs. Ohio, was able to make multiple appearances before the national pageant with her state title.

MRI - What is your favorite vacation spot?K - There's a little city in Northern Michigan called Lake City where my grandparents honeymooned and then started the family tradition of vacationing there for years. Beautiful beach, clean water and touristy shopping spots! When my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and then passed away a few years ago, my family stopped going, but my husband and I are making a trip back this summer to renew our vows for our 10 year wedding anniversary on the very beach where many of my childhood memories we made. I'm looking forward to creating another great memory there!

MRI - What organization is your favorite to volunteer for?K - I volunteer my time with many organizations so it's hard to pick just one! Each are different and unique and have a special place in my heart. From working for stray dogs and cats with Planned Pethood to assisting cancer patients and their families through my committee work for The Victory Center to spending my time to help veterans with traumatic brain injuries and post traumatic stress with The Arms Forces, I enjoy helping the organizations within my community and getting to know the individuals that my help directly assists.

MRI - What is your fondest memory?K - My wedding day! It was a rough road getting there as I fell very sick just a couple months before and spent a month in the hospital undergoing a few emergency surgeries, but making it down that aisle was a blessing and a day I'll never ever forget! It rained in the morning, of course while I'm getting my hair done, but the second I pulled into the church, the clouds parted and the sun shined down on us the entire rest of the day!

MRI - What makes Miss Royalty International different from any other pageant system you've competed in?K - Competing for the title of Mrs. Royalty International was an amazing experience. This pageant system really treated me like royalty with an amazing dinner, fun awards night, gifts after every phase of competition and the wonderful people who worked hard to put together a great pageant. This system has set the bar high and I'm so proud to represent as Mrs. Royalty International 2014!
